Beyond house and heaven

Today a bit exhausted with writing and need to touch up everything for tomorrow's morning discussion with my thesis supervisor.  I managed to read at least 9 journal articles last nite until 1:30am...all nite long without any disturbance, but pause for 1 hour to watch predator vs. alien at tv3.

Writing day and nite definitely makes me worn-out.  While taking a quick glance at a high stack of article journal on my bed, I come across an article which has been long ago downloaded from online database.  Among other technical concepts discussed by the author such as place attachment, place dependence and place identity which all connect to people-place relationship that provide significant meaning to people's emotion on place, there are sentences that caught my attention.  The author delineates that:

"If home is used to signify feelings of security and comfort, what of those who do not find this in their residence?  In cases where one's residence 'does not feel like, or even mean, 'home', the analysis becomes decidedly more complex" (Manzo, 2003:  49)
The author further encapsulates as we continue examine relationships to places in totality, we are able to see the full range of places, feelings and experiences that characterize the nature of people's affective relationships to place.

Insofar as this explanation address the affective relationships to place, I might want to extend that the core value of a 'home' is when one can find tranquility, composure and calmness that trigger the emotion:  peace of mind.  These attributes depends on those people at their home to consider appropriate strategies to ensure that they will achieve the Islamic tagline "Rumahku Syurgaku" or "My home is heaven".

Again, we might want to design our life based on Quran and Sunnah, but irrespective of any kinds of religions in the world, there would be only one catchphrase:  mutual discussion.  When things go wrong with spouse, children or relative who are under the same roof, always provide rooms for discussion.. as the old folks always say in Malay 'pakat elok2, membawa berkat' (mutual exclusive discusson leads to bestowal of blessing).

When you feel you are safe, secured and at peace while at home, now you are rest assured that there are no other places better in the world other than our home.

Hopes that we all are blessed with Our Home is a Heaven...
