just after we die

yesterday, while i was on a bed for a quick rest, just after the maghrib prayer, suddenly the idea to write about the situation just after we die came to my mind.  having read books, magazines and wathced religious programme in tv, i might say that i could feel the real situation which was described in those writings and speech.

everyday we could hear in the news that there are accidents happen. sometimes we ourselves witness the accidents that occured right before our eyes.  many of us also watch accident videos in youtube.  accident happened because either we ourselves are careless while driving or there are other vehicles that face mechanical failure, crush to our lane, the result is pile together inextricably.  we also react to graphic images of the accident victims. we had goosebumps upon seeing. some may vomit, others could shed tears.

we always remember the phrase that speed does kill.  we actually don't know the meaning until we ourselves involve in an accident. if it is not our fault to speed while driving that cause the accident, it might probably there are others who speed, then drag us together in such a mourning incident that we could never imagine.

everyday we always pray for our safety - ourselves and family.  very seldom we pray for our safety while we are in the car. we just press the engine button, hit the gas and go.

it is our unlucky day should we find ourselves exist in another dimension in just a few seconds, i.e. we die. we feel very unlucky because we have not prepared at all to leave our family and friends. we never expect that this could happen. at that time we ourselves feel pity for our family on how could they live without us. we also concern on how can they make a living. now, we cannot help. we are helpless.

i heard that the process of natural dying on a comfortable bed is full of pain.. beginning with the malaikat izrail pull our soul from the feet up till the eyes where the soul is set free. that is why when every human dies, their eyes are left open wide because the eyes can feel that there are moving soul who wants to get out of our body.  upon seeing this, those who sit beside us may quickly shut the eyes. the pain has been described as if someone skins ourselves alive! it is a very excruciating pain. in the same line, how is it exactly the pain that needs to be borne for those who die instantly in accident? or how one could ever feel when he/she knows that he/she will be killed? it is very shocking to find any victims in brutal murder cases. to what extent that these individuals endure the pain during the dying process. to us, it is very horrible.

now that we are already dead. we now live and wander in different dimension. in islam, the world is known as 'alam barzakh'. our soul is capable to see our dead body, who manage the body, where the body is sent.  at that time, we also could see how a great sadness enshroud our home that our family and close friends cry and mourn.  words cannot express how saddened our family are to hear of our loss.  the death leaves a heartache that no one can heal.  we also feel sad. we are not ready for that. we shout and call for their names, but nobody heard. we sit beside them, but they could not feel our presence. neither they can see nor hear us. we also cry.

then, after we've dealt with the necessary process with our god and his messenger on where we should go next, deciding where exactly our home is, whether it is a paradise or the hell.  always we pray we belong to the heaven. afterthat, we might always yearn to visit our family.  sometimes, we go to our home and see our parents, wife and children. once in a while, we meet our family in their dreams.

the first year after we left the world is full of sorrow and gloomy days. subsequent years might tell that our loved ones already accept the fact that we are no longer in this world. soon, they lead a happy life with their mind thinking of us in eternal memories.

at that time, we also feel relieved and accept the fact that we are destined to leave our loved ones in such an unexpected condition. but, during this stage, we yearn for the pray from our family. a pray that we always be in a good state of affair in this afterlife world.
